"Alignment" in the context of exercise can be described as bringing the different components of the body, bones, muscles and joints, into a working harmony.

Private Pilates Lessons

Private instruction is a one-on-one session in which the student has the undivided attention of the teacher for an hour. Private instruction is the best way to learn the Pilates Method and how it will work for your body type and the teacher can tailor the session to your particular needs and goals. You can work at a faster or slower pace as needed. Private instruction gives you a detailed, in depth understanding of Pilates.  For students with injuries, or students with specific fitness goals private instruction is the best choice. 

Semi-private Instruction

Semi-private instruction involves sessions with two or three people, a "duet" or "triplet".  A class is four or more people.  Semi-private instruction offers you the benefit of working out with a partner which studies have shown increases the results you obtain because when people work out with a partner they are motivated, committed, and stick with the program.  Some people have more fun or feel more comfortable when working out with a friend or spouse.  In semi-privates you also still get the benefit of a small group so it is easier for the teacher to tailor the session to meet your specific needs.  For many people semi-private sessions allow them to get similar benefits of private instruction but it stretches their dollar and so that they can do two or three sessions a week.
